Remodel standard power supply unit into a fanless one.
Well :) If desired, you can fasten the remote radiator to the power supply unit with some angle bars, though it is held up by the pipes quite firmly. To the point, do you remember me saying about ambiguity of the radiators-extensions parameters choice? I suppose that having the finished power unit in front of you, you understand better what I mean. As you see, we have some reserve of width, so we can mount wider radiators. However don’t forget that the natural desire to improve cooling at the expense of an additional pair of radiator fins may cause problems in cramped cases in which the mother board nearly rests against the power unit. It concerns the fins length as well. If you have something like ZM 7700 on your processor, you may prefer the fins not to jut out of the case at all (but you’ll have to cut a window anyway because it provides the inside filling ventilation). On the other hand, there is enough space with a compact cooler\waterblock and in fulltower . Regarding the waterblock: you may replace the heat pipes by the standard copper pipes, fasten connecting pipes to them and connect this construction to the water cooling. After all I add some more photographs and subjective impressions of the use.
The power unit was tested in two configurations:
A64 3000+ @2300MHz
one hard disk
two hard disks
fully blowing ventilation (i.e. the power unit case is intensively heated up with hot air coming from processor)
Even in the rough conditions of №2 configuration the temperature of the hottest radiator didn’t exceed 50° C (I busied it with 3DMark, measured the temperature at the radiators foot, between transistors\diode packs). Average temperature in day time made 45° C, temperature at throttles – 45-48° C. The temperature difference between the radiators inside the power unit and the remote radiator was 4° C (it sounds like ravings but this is a fact). Voltage is normal.
Thus, I’m quite contented :).

All began when one day my neighbour, he is Automatic Control Engineer, came and started to beg me to give him one diode. When I asked him why, he typed modding in a search engine. And it had a great effect on me. I was sick about it. Maybe there is nothing accidental in the world and this modding seed fell into good soil. All my life I was interested in design.
